A Song of Strings

A song is sung,
A day is done,
One more joyous memory spun.
A song of strings,
Relaxed musings,
Waiting for what next day brings.
Into the night,
Rest until bright
Dawn and new days morning light.
Drift off to sleep,
One less day I think.
The next,
A day to find memories to keep.

I love classical/instrumental music, my favorite being those pieces for violin and cello. One if my things is listening to those and thinking back on the day. Meditation to such music is such a relaxing experience.

The Darkness Inside All

I am the face upon the wall.
With no mouth to you I call,
I say once more let shadows conspire!
Put no other memories of yours to fire!
I am the eyes that see you sow
Seeds of of joy where darkness grow.
I am repressed, denied, held down,
I’m beneath the gilded smile, a frown.
A few more days till darkness takes
A chance within you to awake.
Are you strong enough to stand,
To hold up light in an unknown land?
I am here and always will be.
Only time will tell if you surrender to me.

No Use In Asking Ashes

Transcendent fire on the forest floor
Lifts one higher than before.
Not unlike dust in the wind,
Smoke curls in and out again.
Rising above the trees below
She sees the ashes she did sow.
And in destructions wake it seems,
A moment to take and slowly breathe.
The pale rose sunset against a sky too long,
Ushers in a dimmer dawn.
No use in asking ashes “What if?”
She lifts herself to give the sky a kiss.

Final Hour

To consider ones mortality, in youth, that we may see,
How long a lasting friendship, with that, we may be.
In understanding a child, to the reaper, gives a flower,
So that in passing, they’ll be friends when met in that final hour.
