To Argue With the Vessel

sydney-sims-519706-unsplash.jpg
A fragile crutch of flesh and bone,
Supports another wounded soul.
Water argues with the vessel
In which it is contained,
Progress made is infinitesimal,
Naught but vanity is gained.
A smile on pained lips and three
Unused wishes at days end may see,
This day again becoming night,
This tired form and I,
Simply wait for morning and new sight.
Where life and death combine.

The Darkness Inside All

I am the face upon the wall.
With no mouth to you I call,
I say once more let shadows conspire!
Put no other memories of yours to fire!
I am the eyes that see you sow
Seeds of of joy where darkness grow.
I am repressed, denied, held down,
I’m beneath the gilded smile, a frown.
A few more days till darkness takes
A chance within you to awake.
Are you strong enough to stand,
To hold up light in an unknown land?
I am here and always will be.
Only time will tell if you surrender to me.

Against Cold Tide

One more cold wind and all that it sustains:
Sad dreams, feigned smiles, but more so the latter.
Beneath the placid surface calm remains
Before the storm, all I have to catch her.
I cannot gain or get any closer.
She is a vapor, in essence a breath.
This race. I can’t say what it has cost her;
It’s sure to lead to her untimely death.
She is the fragile calm before the storm,
The lonely rock standing against cold tide.
What can I do with a sad maiden, torn?
Nothing but simply remain by her side.
Sad dreams?  Not for long. Short lived are feigned smiles.
Through the light and dark I’ll stay all the while.
