Continued Dream

Waters carry me past winter,
Here allow me to sleep.
With no veil, these tired eyes pried open
Then forced closed on what they keep.
If we see nightmares in the day,
Are we really asleep?
Floating through what I once thought to be a stream,
Shocked to learn it a river,
What I thought was spring,
Really was the end of summer.
My eyes closed, am I alone in this stream?
Maybe yes. I’ll continue to dream.

Across Hot Sands

The sun is too bright for these tired eyes,
This mind too tired for the whys.
An explanation is another day in the sun,
With all this stargazing I long to be done.
Chasing clouds profits nothing but broken dreams.
There’s no shade in a desert stretching as far as the eye can see.
Venturing across hot sands to find more stable bedrock,
To find a place where the mirage is not.

Renewal

Across the gap a tempting song.
A pond, a light, a stone.
On the far bank, far beyond,
A vessel long grown cold.
Daylight does nothing to warm.
How can there be a song without a soul?
There is no life within the vacancy.
The void stares back and somehow sings.
Such beautiful things
Set my mind at ease.
I am at waters edge,
and take a step.
Turning to stone, I sink and pledge,
To rise again after my ego-death.

New Light To Elsewhere

I see a sign to nowhere,
A door that was once there.
An empty room, gray.
Abandoned light: day.
Something becomes nothing,
Nothing is everything.
Nowhere to go, no worries.
Searching for a path long buried.
On this gray path a new one to nowhere,
From this forsaken dawn, new light to elsewhere.
