Reflection(s)

While I only touch water
My reflection touches me.
At the same time
These eyes see only world
But through his,
What magic can unfurl?
I speak to my reflection, sad,
For I cannot hear his words
He feels the same as I, it’s true,
For he mouths the same words I do.

The Dreaming Self

Sensation is real
And suffering is true,
And freedom from pain is the dream we hold to.
This does not exclude everything else,
This does not define what is real for the self.
In my own dream I say what I see.
Though you may not see the same as me.
We all dream and are dreaming
The dreams our brains are selling.
What happens when one wakes up?
Now that would be telling.

Guilt Faltered

image

How my guilty conscience must be swayed,
If by decline and moral decay,
One were to hold me back and say:
“Give in, there’s no other way.”
Hoping my weakness to then fail.
Hoping my strength to rise up and prevail,
I sit by silently and wail.
Hope without action becomes stale.
By the time that’s tried and true,
It will be too late for you,
To bring, pull, or drag me through.
So many lies, what is true?
Oh, there you are! My guiding light!
Will you stay with me tonight?
My safety stolen, giving fright.
We’ll hide until we can take flight.
Until that light I need no longer.
Its absence will make me stronger.
I’ll not hide in darkness bothered,
By infection of guilt faltered.
