By Herself

alex-ronsdorf-173670
She is awoken by voices,
She is alone.
In a strange place
She calls home.
Echoing off the walls,
In the midst of silence found,
They who have no name,
Each of their words resound.
She hates the silence,
It’s when they are so loud.
Whatever noise she can make
To ward off absent sound.
There is a voice she fears above most,
The one who, from the silence, boasts.
She hates his persistence.
She is insistent that he leave.
She fails and fails and fails again.
Any other voice from the din!
The many shout at her,
She does not give in.
But the one quietly calls,
From behind a door that’s cracked open
When the others leave.
He calls to her, her fears.
Things forgotten from across the years,
And then she remembers why
They were pushed aside.
Then in her heart
She deeply wishes the voices to depart.
And she hears
So softly in her ear,
Him whisper:
“You will believe us absent, asleep,
You will rejoice in your soul deep.
You will forget what I tell you now
And you will remember each time we return our sound
You, in your fear, may not belong,
And we will never truly be gone.”

She closed her eyes,
And awoke alone; or so she was told.
She rose to the window,
And thought the sun too bright to be this cold.

Darkening Echos

The one who sits and dwells on echos,
The following silence, the pause in thought,
And what the void replies in bellows,
What these unanswered musings bought.
The price here to sit and think and be,
Unaffordable or in reach? We’ll see.
Echos return from the void tell me
Of what is born from pause in thought.
A dream of pain, a nightmarish draught.
A pain that wakes the soul within.
A struggle born in mind is fought.
From the darkest, deepest hole now climbs,
A beast that bears the peace we sought.
The beast, a bear, on is peace borne.
The bear an echo,
And peace a dream.
The void has swallowed them both you see,
And I am one who sits and dwells
On darkening echos,
And peace that fell.

Microphone

Golden snare of voice.
I’ll hear louder than before.
Lights out brings silence.

The Silence In Losing Touch

image

The deadly silence, can’t you see,
Floating between you and me,
Threatens to tear us, break apart,
From this destiny we’ll depart?
One less hello, one less goodbye,
Is all it takes to pass us by.
Before we know it we’ve moved on
Trying to find where our hearts belong.
Little do we search and little do we know,
Into what stream all our time flows.
One more day and all our hope,
Away, perhaps on wings, float.
In this way, we will see,
If we’ll take our paths, separately.

Afraid to Say

image

These hands that hold my mouth closed, force my words
Back into a void cave, wishing release.
My silence grows, like so many caged birds,
In this well of censors I can’t appease.
Truly, I’m not powerless to resist,
Yet fear, my nemesis, paralyzer.
Fearing not change, but the resulting list
Of failure, by she, the analyzer.
I must stand and resist her, fear of change.
The fear of what I am meaning to say.
I will succeed though the fear still remains.
Therein it will drive my courage today.
I look back on the battle for my soul,
I, with clear eyes see, the hands were my own.

Silence Is Required

SplitShire-7786

Hush.
Silence is required.
Cease the chatter from your hole,
That reflects heart, that reflects the soul.
Too many words uninspired,
Crushed.

Wait.
An eyeless face.
Not what is seen but what is heard,
Trust not the eyes and let them burn.
It’s how in the first place.
Fate.

Trend.
All patience expired,
Each, their own wisdom assured,
They decline to listen, grow, confer.
Silence is required.
End.

The Unquarantined

Crawling out from his deep and dark hole,
He beckons to one he hopes to exist.
Hearing nothing, his is a lonely soul.
His single eye, longing to pierce the mist.
Once within, now without; shedding shadows.
Out his cavernous maw escapes a note.
More out of curiosity and how
He wanders than from his thin, lonely coat
Of solitude and silence. Quarantine
Does not become him he will realize.
There is a greater apex so pristine,
Its beauty will draw out tears from his eye.
He will open up his ears, he will hear,
Music so fair, no longer will he fear.

Special thanks to my brother Jesse for drawing this and allowing me to use it here. 🙂
