Reflection(s)

While I only touch water
My reflection touches me.
At the same time
These eyes see only world
But through his,
What magic can unfurl?
I speak to my reflection, sad,
For I cannot hear his words
He feels the same as I, it’s true,
For he mouths the same words I do.

Stains of a Shadow

A shadow holds her back,
One that she held before.
No one can see the stains
Those cold hands leave behind,
But the mirror tells no lies.
At least that’s what she believes.
And at the end of the day
It’s her own faith
That she calls home.
If her reflection tells her anything,
It’s: “Sing no more.”
But at night outside her room
There’s a song I’ve never heard before.

They Expire

A reflection,
A form on the water
They no longer know.
It is capable of anything.
They say the flotsam is in the way,
The reflection is distorted,
By a shimmer on the surface.
On the shore they’ll find no purpose,
One must jump in.
Waiting for the image to become still and clear,
They expire.
Never realizing the image was a reflection of who they were before.

Enter: the Censor

Listen to yourself breathe.
Look outward with glossy stare.
Become the hunted.
Become what you seek.
Then never look into the mirror.

Press eyes into the sieve.
What’s left can only see through filter.
You sought the censor.
You never thought the censor was you.
Now never again look into the mirror.
