Cities Crumble

When cities crumble after skies fall down,
A curious sun shines upon ruins.
I stand on oceans edge, dead ground.
One won’t see death here for bright day akin
To a cemetery, dry bones, and sin.
Cities crumble and leave no clouds behind,
No churches, or temples we’ve to hide in.
Nothing I see above that’s silver lined.
One doesn’t see God’s hand, raising up storms,
And torching the land. We mustn’t cry out:
“The gods! The gods!”. We’re to blame. On this shore,
I meet the sand and the waves, still with doubt,
God in His heaven, all’s right with the world.
I look on, as this too becomes unfurled.

Questioning Illusions

We cannot trust one more, one less,
We cannot trust ourselves unless, We accept this dream for what it seems.
We must embrace, then, what it brings.
Dream or reality? Who can tell, does it matter
When dreams themselves do not bother to flatter?
They do not think, they do not feel!
For heavens sake they aren’t even real!
What are dreams but reality only the dreamer can touch?
And what is an illusion if not then viewed as such?
These are questions. These are things
That define us, it would seem.
Not the answer, but the search,
And all we find there in between.

A Dance in the Wind

xxdownload89

A light inside her fading, dying.
It wasn’t for the times of trying.
A candle in the wind stands little chance,
Those that dance with death still dance.
To make the most of this, now she
Reveals something else others rarely see,
A lesson for us if we are to learn.
And not our time like paper burn.
This is what she would have wanted,
Not her own great life here flaunted.
But to share the joy that she has found,
Before she leaves for heavens ground.

Darkness Inside

image

There is darkness in  me
But also there is light.
And the demons in my mind;
The corners from which they stare.
These shadows that clearly see,
In this empty homesick night.
Here the fear, its own kind,
Convinces me they aren’t there.
A shining brightness then escapes,
A hope beyond contagious misery.
“There can be no light without the dark.”, a lie.
One I find the strength to refuse.
This is when the earth shakes,
When one clears his eyes to see.
A time when heaven seldom sighs,
A bit of faith found, I’m able to reuse.

We All Dream Of Heaven

image

We all dream of heaven,
Though we all cannot go.
Of the week, each seven,
Remind us, the dreams below.
Eerily reminiscent images on a wall,
Shows us the dreams that surface,
And tells us how far we fall,
With greed, unable to save face.
The same beneath a mask of death
We’re not very different,
Down to our last breath.
And there the image on the wall
She looks the same as you to me.
We are the same in death we fall,
We are the same in dreams we see.
We all dream of heaven,
And dream of it we must.
It’s the hope that keeps us going
Before fading into dust.
