No Debt to Pay

I thought I heard you say,
So beautifully,
“We left the lights on.”
Home to return,
And now I’ve learned
How I was wrong.
You take me back,
A million times,
And forgiven me.
Unconditional,
Your love for me.
I’ll pay you back some,
Pay you back someday.
But you say I’ve no debt to pay.

For the Arms That Hold Me

image

Oh!  For the arms that hold me!
For the hands that pick me up!
For my shelter, my strength,
For unending faithfulness,
For fathomless love,
For eternal mercy that comes from above!
Each and every day there is only one that I owe.
With every breath to Him I become more in debt.
And on the day when I’m finally home,
Shedding light on the secrets from the shadows finally crept,
Infinite forgiveness washes over me,
Unmakes them all, sin ceases to be.
Oh! For the price that bought this soul!
I can never repay, but this gift I can recieve.
Oh! For the day when I’ve come home.

Prodigal Daughter

SplitShire-0514
A cold morning soon gone,
Another path she won’t belong.
Everything she’s said and done,
Remembered by another one.
It’s too heavy. She can’t carry this alone.
When in truth she isn’t, they wait for her at home.
But the lie that she’s conceived,
Would say none would be pleased.
In truth again: they would forgive.
They just hate to see her gone,
And in darkness live.
Waiting for her every day with open arms,
Hoping she’ll return to them, safe from harm.

My Turn To Say Goodbye

DTS_Photography_Movie8

For once it is my turn to say goodbye,
And you wondered if you would see the day.
Of all the unasked questions, don’t ask why.
You know the answer, to you I would say.
At one time I loved you, I truly did.
We had no need for secrets between us.
When first we had suffered, when first you hid.
The bridge that began to die was our trust.
And with that dead, nothing much left to save.
It was your choice, and you chose to end it.
Your tears are nothing but ash, burnt and grey.
You chose his over mine. You can keep it.
I’ll always miss you, it’s you I love most.
But this I can’t forgive, through it I can’t coast.
