A Call to Dark

image

A call to dark,
And those found empty.
One cannot impart
What one cannot see.
She finds herself calling
To faces of the unknown,
To the faces of hunger,
To the home within her bones.
All of this and more
Inside a question burning,
A warning, (blessing?)of nevermore.
Her mind, in a skull turning,
The empty, nameless dark still calls
Ignoring her inquiry.
The nameless faces gazes fall
From her own mirror beguiling.
A call to dark,
Herself found empty,
That call that folly answered.
Now gone today
Now none may say,
She is that folly; cancer.

A Choice of Paths

image

“No, I have no desire,
With you to conspire.
I’ve seen the shadows
In which you hide,
I’ve seen the low blows
That decide
Many a fight, unfairly in your favor.
You shameless deciever.”
After his peace he had said,
He went on living, no longer dead.
Saved by the choice of this foolish notion
To be cast aside, a cycle of folly broken.
To reject the conspiring against others,
And start down a path of loving his brothers.

The Wise Womans Door

image

As she awakes and readies for her day,
She pays no heed to voices that dismay.
Misery loves company; this is others to decide:
Would it make a worthy ear in which their troubles to confide?
She isn’t one to keep the company of fools.
Round and round she’s danced with the liar and his duels.
She sees past the folly that most consider wise.
Just because many love it doesn’t mean she can’t dispise.
What others think she won’t ignore,
But doesn’t open when offense knocks on the door.

A Sonnet To A Sunrise

Vanishing into a dark plume of smoke,
He knows it’s not as simple as it seems.
Watching the ashes slowly fall and coat,
Everything on this cold landscape of dreams.
Vanishing flames disappear and reveal,
All the things he should and has tried to learn,
But too much burnt and the ashes conceal;
It’s just easier to let it all burn.
The things he must hold onto slip away.
Hurts too much to hold, so he lets them fall.
Past pain, both good and bad, he gives to flames,
Wisdom, folly, love, hate, under ash, all.
He’ll forget all he was and what comprised.
This a first: a dead man watches sunrise.
