The Foolish

The foolish wait for these thoughts to expire.
The foolish wait.
The foolish breathe.
I am a verbose vessel of void.
The real miracle would seem
To be something from nothing,
But the taste of this cure,
This cursed alkaloid,
This, “others king”,
Is not who I want to serve.
The foolish wait.
The foolish expire.
I too wait.
But between me and a fool I shall conspire.

To Sleep Alone

photo-1486401049719-c73f3d070305
I cannot sleep alone,
Here on the floor and dreaming.
With no one here beside me warm,
With no one here now breathing.
I cannot hear the breath you take.
“Come back!” The void hears, screaming.
And with a final sigh defeated
I resign. My heart stops beating.
Cursed to go on living in unrequited love,
Here I’ll stay.
No one will hear me breathing.

Enter: the Censor

Listen to yourself breathe.
Look outward with glossy stare.
Become the hunted.
Become what you seek.
Then never look into the mirror.

Press eyes into the sieve.
What’s left can only see through filter.
You sought the censor.
You never thought the censor was you.
Now never again look into the mirror.

The False Comfort of Drowning

Under water all her breathing
Isn’t impossible as it seems. Rings
Out echos from the sown
Unknown borne of the abyssal below.
Then once more to the darkened spires,
Her climb, her flight, her pain inspired.
Descent is this? To the depths?
Sorting through what memory’s kept.
Constantly trying to change inside:
The past; it’s long been fossilized.
So full of sorrow and full of stone,
She discards strength for gills so,
She hopes not for the surface and here,
At the bottom of the ocean it’s quite clear,
That she will never rise again unless,
She can rise to the surface and above this test.

Breathe

Asphyxiation.
Learning how to breathe again,
Not impossible.
