Answers in the Dark

He speaks to the darkness a question,
The echos repeat it back
Before they give an answer.
Though he is most certainly alone,
He searches for the source in the dark
How can the echo speak of wisdom?
He hears the answer again.
Now he knows
The answer was his all along.
His answer his own
He finds his home
In the dark.
The daylight will find him soon.
From this truth he won’t depart.

Of Civilization

A city in the dark
They wish to dapart.
Colossal silhouettes against the black,
A testament to mankinds never going back.
Advancement? Progress? What have we made?
Questions, not answers, fall in cascade.
All this of our products, what they gave,
We ask while more comfortable than sitting in a cave.

Waiting for the Snow

jamie-street-493143.jpg
Follow me into the light
The sun would lend you anyway.
“Tomorrow’s gone, now have no fright.”
The foggy morning says.
Were I to ask you what the night
And moon and stars would say,
Do not answer if you do not know
I musn’t know today.

Continue on the path with me
And soon I will show
What you’ve been waiting for,
But you must wait until the flowers grow.
Spring to summer, summer to fall
Follow me and we’ll go
With our questions, searching for answers
While we wait for winters snow.

Ode to a Rose

And to the budding rose,
This question I do pose:
“Why did He make you so,
Beautiful, divine, and altogether sublimed?”
Searching within my mind
The answer I then find:
Just to make something fine;
To bless the world with beauty.
With all that it could be.

Questioning Illusions

We cannot trust one more, one less,
We cannot trust ourselves unless, We accept this dream for what it seems.
We must embrace, then, what it brings.
Dream or reality? Who can tell, does it matter
When dreams themselves do not bother to flatter?
They do not think, they do not feel!
For heavens sake they aren’t even real!
What are dreams but reality only the dreamer can touch?
And what is an illusion if not then viewed as such?
These are questions. These are things
That define us, it would seem.
Not the answer, but the search,
And all we find there in between.

So Close An Answer

image

The lights are slowly lowered,
And now approaches night.
Our days on earth are numbered,
Before our final flight.
We surrender to the dreaming,
The place ones mind finds rest,
And so many of us take to scheming,
Foggy judgment saying we know best.
In times like these I’m tempted to wonder,
But I don’t have to wonder because I know.
Believing the answer is so much farther,
But reaching out is all we must do.
